Edward David
Uncas and I are so excited to introduce Edward David to the world. He made us wait a long time - 11 days past his due date to be exact, but he was so worth it!
He was born at 2:20 am on Wednesday March 17. He weighed 8.5 lbs was 20 and 1/2 inches long. It was a long labor tough labor for mama and daddy - 24 hours. (And for the record - he did keep his mama from watching Lost on Tuesday night - big surprise!!!!)
I will post more details on his birth story when I have some time in the next few days, but for now - here are some pictures of our son!

First nap with Mama - not sure who is more tired here.
Proud Papa
First visitors Grandma and Grandpa Blume (pictured above with Grandma)
We also calculated the results of our baby pool. The big winner - Grandpa Blume!
We are so in love with our baby! Today is a big day because little Eddie will meet his big brother Sammy. I predict lots of kisses from Sammy!

Public Service Announcement
Things NOT to say to a 41 week old pregnant woman:
"When are you going to have that baby?"
It's not amusing.
Also not amusing - getting emails from BabyCenter with the subject line stating: "Your One-Week Old". I promptly unsubscribed from their email list.
Am I crabby and overly-sensitive? You got it! And I make no apologies for it either.

Walking
From sitting around yesterday to walking today. To get out of the house and do something, we decided to walk all three floors of Mall of America. It was slow as I don't move quite that fast and we did do some shopping and stopped for lunch. I had hoped to get things progressing, but really I just came home with sore feet, an aching back and belly and just over all feeling exhausted. I promptly took a nap!
This morning we took "41 week" belly pictures a day early. Maybe (fingers crossed) these will be the last ones we take!
As mentioned above, we did a bit of shopping today. We got the baby a new outfit and then we saw this bib and we HAD to get it!

Sitting Around
Late last week Uncas and I finally got our act together and decided to purchase a glider for the baby's room. I ordered it online at a major discount retailer that does free delivery to the store. It's estimated arrival date was 3/16-3/22, but I didn't want to pay for the shipping to our house. We took a chance that just maybe it would come in early. Of course yesterday it came, so Uncas picked it up last night and assembled it.
It's not the most extravagant one, but I think it will do the job.
I was also digging around our basement this morning in boxes and found a couple of things that I thought I would share. First up - a picture of a lovely pregnant lady. Any guesses on who this is?
For those of you who guessed my mom - you are right! I am not sure if she is pregnant with me or my brother in this picture, but doesn't she look fabulous? And very stylish considering this was mid 70's when fashion wasn't always the greatest.
Up next - a birth announcement:
Is it bad that I love my own birth announcement? I think it's so cute! Maybe tomorrow I will scan and upload some baby pictures of me!

Still Hanging Around
This baby is still hanging around inside my belly. I had an appointment today and there hasn't been a whole lot of progress from last week. The baby's dropped a little bit in position, so that's good, but other than that, it's just enjoying floating around.
It's hard to see your due date come and go. Sunday was a bit tough for me, but luckily we had plans on Sunday night to get out of the house, so that helped. I am running out of things to do around the house. This afternoon seemed particularly boring. Fortunately my Good Housekeeping magazine came in the mail. And of course Sammy and I took a little nap together.
We have another appointment scheduled for next week Monday (March 15). They are going to do an ultrasound and monitor the baby to make sure that he/she is doing ok. At that time we'll also set a date for induction. Who knows - maybe this baby is holding out for March 19th birthday after all?!

Due Date
Today is the day we have been waiting for since the end of June. Our baby's due date. 40 weeks. I made it!
And here I sit at home - not too shocking since from the very beginning I just knew that I was going to be late. Actually, we having done much sitting at home today. My mother-in-law was in town, so we went to lunch with her. Then we headed to the store to buy chair cushions for our new dining room chairs. Our new dining room table and chairs were delivered yesterday afternoon. Then we decided just for fun to look at new cars! And then we came home and took Sammy for a walk.
My comfort level isn't awful at the moment - especially since I slept pretty decent last night. But I would be lying if I said that I didn't care that I haven't had the baby yet. I want to meet this little person who has been inside of me for all these months. But it's out of my control for the moment, so we sit and wait.

Laundry Room
The past few weekends Uncas has been hard at work at redoing our laundry room in the basement. I went through all of the pictures of the house from when we first bought it, but I did not take any "before" pictures in the basement. Not surprising given the fact that it's dark and kind of dirty and kind of gross.
Basically in the laundry room there were two sets of cabinets across from the washer and dryer. One set was mounted on the wall and the other was free standing on the floor. I never did look in the bottom cabinets (too scared) and I barely used the ones on the wall. Uncas removed both sets of cabinets, scraped down the walls, cleaned them, painted the walls and the floor and then built me a work area/storage space and put up new shelving. It seriously feels like a different room. He also added more lightening, so it's really bright down there.
He still has a few more shelves to put up, but for the most part it's done and I love it! Here are the after pictures:
